We are flying ARN-LHR-SIN-SYD return.
ARN-LHR return is on one ticket, bought via SAS webpage. LHR-SIN-SYD return is with SQ on another ticket bought via a travel agent in th UK. What happens when we check in in SYD to fly back to ARN; Will the staff agree to check our luggage in all the way up to ARN (so we dont have to collect at LHR and check it in again) ? What airline are you flying SYD-LHR with?
Some will not check you thropugh if it is not on the same ticket (ie Air NZ, BMI etc) |

You'll have to check it in again in LHR... If it were all on the same ticket you may have stood a better chance...

Ensure at Stockholm Airport you show them both tickets, and get them to tag the bags to Sydney Agree you will not get the LHR-SYD boarding pass till you get to LHR transfer desk. Banjo

I understand that they might not check us in, so we need to get new boarding cards at a transfer desk in LHR. |

They are under no obligation to do so. I'm not sure of SQ or SAS's policy, but it may also depend on the agent on the day. |

Normally if travelling on same alliance in this case Star they will tag thru...major exception is BMI in star alliance - will only tag to final destination if on same ticket or if 2 tickets only if the BMI ticket is endorsed with the other ticket number...BMI pretty much functions like LCC...
BA and VS are two carriers that will not thru check bags if on sep tickets. BA will if travelling on oneworld partner airlines on sep tickets. QF are normally pretty good with thru tagging - I flew QF/BA to LHR and connecting on AZ domestic via LHR/FCO - bags were tagged by QF and I had sep tickets. TG and SQ have done the same for me as well. So you should be OK but make sure you have a copy of both tickets and verify with check-in agent where they are tagging to...hope this helps. |

At the end of the day not a major hassle, the major hassle was getting from JFK to SYD sans stopover and that's simply because I'm no Luke Chittock ![]() |

I've enquired with BA in the past about this. I had a SYD-LHR QF return booking and was looking to make a side trip to Hamburg at the end of my trip on BA, with the HAM-LHR flight arriving a few hours before my LHR-SYD QF departure. I enquired with BA before booking if I could check my bags through to SYD from HAM but BA said they couldn't as the bookings need to be on the same ticket. I ended up not going to Hamburg, but left my bags at my London hotel and caught the train to Paris instead.
