Default JQ626 tonight

Just out of curiosity, does anyone know why this flight was so delayed tonight. Currently at FL330 on descent and scheduled for a 11:25pm arrival into Sydney from Avalon. Just touched down now, which makes it a good 20minutes past the curfew.
I'm not 100% on all the curfew procedures, but how is this flight going to be able to land without breaking the curfew unless they have a medical etc etc emergency? Or is it ok to land so long as they land on 34R and within the limits of the runway (eg RWY length available, last taxi way for exit etc) and curfew for tonight as any of the freight aircraft land at night after 11pm? However i just checked and it looks like the full length of the runway was avaliable.

The aircraft had a dispensation to arrive by 11.25pm on runway 34 Left.

The runway works were delayed until this time.

There was was also a MED 1 Learjet right behind. VH-JCR.

Regards.

Thanks for the info Paul. And i meant 34L, i have a habit of saying left when i mean right and vice versa . Is it easy to get a dispensation or are there strict/certain criteria that needs to be met before it can be approved?

We actually don't have anything to do with the dispensations, but suffice to say they are not handed out willy nilly.

One of our airline friends could probably shed a little more light as to the criteria that has to be met.

Regards.

I don't have the link handy, but all dispensation requests and reasons for approval/disapproval are on the internet (with presumably monthly updates).

The criteria are very clearly stated in those requests as to the reasons, however it is still often subjective.

Some of them include: Foreseeability - If the aircraft went U/S at 2pm, and they were trying to squeeze in one more flight from a servicable aircraft, then it would be denied, along with if accomodation is available in the departure city. There are others as well... happy searching
